On December 9, 2019, “Heart of Asia”/Istanbul Process 8th Ministerial Conference under the motto “Peace, Partnership, Prosperity” has been held in Istanbul, in which participated countries of the “Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process”, supporting states, international and regional organizations.
The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin took part in the conference.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the Conference with an inauguration speech.
Addressing the Conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin set out the creative position of the Republic of Tajikistan to provide peace, stability and prosperity in the neighboring country, as well as call upon participant countries, supporting states, international and regional organization to more involving in positive processes in Afghanistan.
In conclusion of the Conference were adopted Istanbul Declaration. In according to the Declaration in 2020 the co-chairman in the “Heart of Asia/Istanbul Process” will pass to the Republic of Tajikistan. The initiative of Tajikistan was unanimously supported by the participants of the conference.
On the sidelines of the Conference the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin was held with Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US State Department for South and Central Ms. Asia Alice Wells, where were discussed the issues of relationship and cooperation between two countries.
